David Clarke

The spoons used for the ‘Blow!’ collection were sent to me from an eBay seller for free. He couldn’t sell them and he didn’t want them. No value, no worth, just crap! But hang on, they have a history, they have stirred cups of tea, they have been licked, washed and dried. They have fed a thousand bellies. From here narrative and story telling can feed the imagination, connections can be built and through repurposing redundant objects can be adapted to start a new journey.

David Clarke is often cited as one of Britain’s most highly innovative silversmiths. Since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1997, Clarke has produced a wealth of covetable objects that have proven pivotal in the renaissance of contemporary British silversmithing. Clarke has a well-earned reputation for producing engaging, intelligent and challenging domestic objects.
