To mark National Libraries Day, Libraries NI launched a search for your favourite chick-lits, crime novels and fantasies - from Harry Potter to Mobey Dick - to get people talking about books.
Speaking ahead of the event Mayor, Councillor Martin Reilly revealed his own recommendation, and urged everyone from dedicated bookworms to holiday readers, to reveal their favourite read.
“I have submitted my own nomination which is called CultureCraft – Culture in the Making,” he revealed. “I selected this particular book as it details in both words and photographs the valuable contribution of craft makers throughout our City of Culture in 2013. It serves to highlight the activity of our citizens and encourages others to develop their creative skills.
“In a world so dominated by technology, books continue to inspire, comfort and entertain, and it’s so important that we continue to recognise the important role they play in the education and development of our children. All of us will have read a book that has made an impact on our lives, and I would call on everyone to take part and nominate their favourite read.”
